    In the context of the European Gender Equality Week and as part of its section meeting, the NAT section will host a public debate on gender equality and youth in rural areas.

  • On 6 November 2023, the EESC will host a public hearing in the context of its ongoing opinion on 'Promoting autonomous and sustainable food production: strategies for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) post-2027' requested by the upcoming Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

  • Rural pact #2

    The EESC is organising a hybrid public hearing to gather the view of youth representatives, rural development experts and various stakeholders on how to promote sustainable and inclusive rural development that benefits young people and rural communities as a whole.

  • In line with its commitments to the Rural Pact, the EESC will organise a thematic debate on renewable energies in rural areas during the next meeting of its Section for Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment (NAT Section) planned on Thursday 9 March (11:00 -12:30). 

  • An economically sustainable Europe

    With this debate, the ECO section is providing ex-ante input to the European Commission, in preparation for the upcoming 2023 strategic foresight cycle that wants to shed light on the strategic decisions needed to ensure a socially and economically sustainable Europe with a stronger role in the world in the coming decades.

  • Extraordinary meeting of the Civil Society Organisations' Group in the framework of the Czech Presidency

    On 11 October 2022, the Civil Society Organisations' Group of the European Economic and Social Committee will hold a conference under the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on Reinventing the Moravian-Silesian Region in search of a socially just transition. This is an in-person event that will be streamed online.

  • The NAT Section is organising an online thematic debate on 9 February 2022 to explore insights for the implementation of the Rural Pact towards a sustainable rural/urban development.

  • The EESC and the European Rural Parliament (“the voice of rural people in Europe”) are organising this public hearing to explore ways to achieve sustainability and prosperity through new ways of cooperation between rural and urban areas.

  • In the context of the NAT section meeting of 8 March 2021, this thematic debate will give participants the chance to discuss challenges and opportunities of balanced territorial development.
