Euroopa Majandus- ja Sotsiaalkomitee Euroopa idapoolseid naaberriike puudutav tegevus hõlmab Armeeniat, Aserbaidžaani, Gruusiat, Moldovat, Ukrainat ja Valgevenet. Euroopa Majandus- ja Sotsiaalkomitee põhieesmärk idapoolseid naaberriike puudutavas tegevuses on tõhustada suhteid kodanikuühiskonna organisatsioonidega piirkonnas ja kaasata neid dialoogi nii nende riikide poliitikakujundajate kui ka ELi organiseeritud kodanikuühiskonnaga.

Peamised koostöömehhanismid Gruusia, Moldova ja Ukrainaga on kodanikuühiskonna platvormid, mis täiendavad ELi ja nende riikide assotsieerimislepingute raames olemas olevaid poliitilisi organeid. Platvormid võimaldavad nii ELi kui ka partnerriigi kodanikuühiskonna organisatsioonidel jälgida lepingu rakendamist, esitades oma soovitusi asjaomastele asutustele.

ELi poolel hõlmavad platvormid Euroopa Majandus- ja Sotsiaalkomitee liikmeid ning suurte Euroopa kodanikuühiskonna võrgustike liikmeid. Partnerriigi poolel on esindatud mitmesugused kodanikuühiskonna organisatsioonid. Platvormi liikmeskonnas on tasakaalustatult esindatud kõik huvirühmad (tööandjate organisatsioonid, ametiühingud ja eri elualade huvirühmad).

Idapoolsete naaberriikide järelevalvekomitee loodi 2004. aastal Euroopa Majandus- ja Sotsiaalkomitee juures spetsiaalse organina, mis vastutab suhete eest kodanikuühiskonnaga idapoolsetes naaberriikides. Järelevalvekomitee kohtub tavaliselt neli korda aastas ja selle liikmed osalevad aktiivselt idapartnerluse tegevuses, nagu idapartnerluse mitmepoolsed platvormid ja idapartnerluse kodanikuühiskonna foorum.

The opinion will look at the issues related to economic, social, environmental and human dimensions of the growing use of the Arctic wealth, potential role of the civil society in voicing the interests of the groups involved as well as in supporting the position of the EU in the dialogue with international partners concerned.

The 3rd meeting of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform (CSP) held in Kyiv on 8-9 November focused on labour market regulation and antidiscrimination legislation and practices in Ukraine, as well as reviewed the progress of the reforms undertaken within the Association Agreement process. On 26 September, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) approved an own-initiative opinion to mark the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership (EaP). In this opinion, the EESC acknowledges the important achievements of this initiative, but also calls for further reforms in the areas of democratisation and fundamental freedoms. The opinion insists on the need to strengthen the role of civil society and to provide credible EU membership prospects to EaP states.

The Civil Society Platform complements the political bodies existing within the framework of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, and it allows civil society organisations from both sides to monitor the implementation process and prepare their recommendations to the relevant authorities both in Georgia as well as in the European Union.

Article 376 of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement foresees that each Party would establish a domestic advisory group (DAG) on sustainable development, which would advise on issues relating to the Chapter of trade and sustainable development. A joint meeting is held annually. The first meeting was held in July 2015.
