    The EU as a driver of shared prosperity – civil society for an economy that works for people & the planet

    While Europe and its societies are still in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic and with the Conference on the Future of Europe in its closing stages, the EESC will be holding its annual Civil Society Days in March 2022.

  • Breaking down the silos

    The Forum aimed to break down the silos and enable inclusive and interactive debates between institutions, academia and civil society, all on an equal footing. The event covered topics relevant to trade and sustainable development (TSD) – from substantive rights through monitoring to enforcement and much more. The ambition was to feed innovative ideas and concrete recommendations to the ongoing reflections on the future of EU TSD policy, in the double context of the review of the 15-point action plan and recent trade and sustainability developments outside the EU.

  • Extraordinary meeting of the Diversity Europe Group

    The hybrid event will take place at the French Académie du Climat and will bring together some 120 persons representing EESC Members, academia, French civil society organisations and representatives of the French local and national authorities.

  • Communities for Future

    This event aims to raise awareness among policymakers and other stakeholders of the important contribution of community/grassroots initiatives to global goals and to navigating social, environmental and economic changes in support of wider transformation.

  • UN High Level Political Forum | EESC side event

    On 13 July 2021, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will hold a public side-event in the context of the United Nations' High Level Political Forum on sustainable development (HLPF), an annual space to review commitment and progress made on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which will be held from 6th to 15th July 2021 in New York.

    As in previous years, the European Economic and Social Committee, as the body representing organized civil society at the EU, will be following the High Level Political Forum (HLPF), from Tuesday, 6 July, to Thursday, 15 July 2021. The HLPF is the United Nations central platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Taking stock of progress (EU Green Week partner event)

    This EU Green Week partner event aims to take stock of the implementation of sustainable development policy in the EU and the intake of SDGs.

    A Sustainable Recovery for the Future of Europe's Citizens

    Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 has proved to be an endurance test for human and social rights, democratic values, the rule of law and economic resilience in the EU. While navigating stormy waters, organised civil society is playing a key role in coping with the countless pandemic-related challenges at European, national, regional and local level.

  • Thematic debate

    The presentation of key findings and policy recommendations of the Europe Sustainable Development Report 2020 by the authors will be followed by a conversation with various stakeholders and a discussion with the NAT Section Members.
