On 10 May, the vice-president of the European Parliament Evelyn Regner took part in the European Day of the Liberal Professions 2022, which was hosted by the Liberal Professions Category of the EESC. She spoke during the opening session of the annual conference, which focused on the topic of Liberal Professions: Lessons Learned and Challenges ahead. Various civil society and other institutional representatives participated in the event.

Just before the summer break, Commissioner Mairead McGuinness joined an extraordinary meeting of the Diversity Europe Group of the EESC to debate the role of finance and banking in Europe's recovery.
On 30 June, the Diversity Europe Group held a webinar under the banner of the Conference on the Future of Europe on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the mental health and employability of young people.

Poverty and the role of civil society organisations in combatting it will be the focus of his Presidency
With the start of the 2020-2025 term of office of the EESC, Séamus Boland takes over the Presidency of the its Diversity Europe Group. Members confirmed his new role for the next two and a half years during the first group meeting of the new term held today, 27 October. Mr Boland's Presidency will focus on the topic of "Poverty and the role of civil society organisations in combatting it".
