EESC President Georges Dassis on the XXV anniversary of the Portuguese Economic and Social Council (CES)

On 12 October, Georges Dassis, President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), will be for the first time in Portugal in this quality, to attend the 25th anniversary of the Portuguese Economic and Social Council (CES), in Lisbon.

The event will start with an opening speech by the President of Portuguese CES, Luís Filipe Pereira, and will have the special participation of the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

To celebrate the creation of this important constitutional body with consultative and social concertation responsibilities, there will be a presentation from Professor Malcolm Sawyer (University of Leeds) on "Re-structuring the financial sector to better serve economy and society" and a conference dedicated to a hotly debated topic: "Social Security Financing Sources ", which very much concerns the Portuguese society, as well as the rest of Europe.

The conference will feature the following speakers:

 

  • Sérgio Miguel Lagoa, Professor of the ISCTE-IUL;
  • Margarida de Corrêa de Aguiar, Former Secretary of State for Social Security;
  • Jorge Miguel Bravo, Professor of Economy and Finances in the Lisbon NOVA IMS University and in the Paris IX Dauphine University;
  • Eugénio Rosa, Economist
  • João Vieira Pereira, Deputy Director of the Journal EXPRESSO, moderator
