7 March 2019, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

European Economic and Social Committee, JDE building, 6th floor

The European Economic and Social Committee will host the 2nd day of the Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference, a – two-day event co-organised with the European Commission.

The second day aims to give a voice to the people who are at the forefront of the transition to a circular economy – civil society organisations, practitioners and experts from across Europe. They will share best practices and success stories and the challenges they are running into in developing their circular economy projects.

Discussions will take place in eight participatory workshops:

  • Implementing circular economy strategies
  • Consumers in the circular economy
  • The social dimension of the circular economy
  • Circular cities for climate mitigation
  • Circular public procurement
  • Tools for measuring the circular economy transition
  • Creative innovation for the circular economy
  • Bio-circular villages: a recipe for rural prosperity

The event will also feature market lounges, networking tables and an exhibition of artworks by Dutch photographer Suzanne Jongmans breathing new life into old materials.

The Circular Economy Stakeholder conference, now in its third year, is one of the three pillars of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform - a joint EESC-European Commission initiative which aims to provide a "network of networks" to support a stakeholder-driven transition from a linear to a circular economic model across Europe.

The Platform hosts an interactive website intended to promote and speed up the development of the circular economy with a best practices database, a forum for discussion and a host of useful information for stakeholders engaging in the circular economy.
