The EESC's 2018 cultural programme ended with a photo exhibition entitled Together for Inclusion showcasing 10 award-winning images of people with disabilities shown in a positive perspective as active agents in their lives.
The exhibition, which was opened by EESC president Luca Jahier on 18 December, included the ten winning images from the 2017 European Disability and Development Week photo contest run by the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC).
The contest aims to change attitudinal barriers towards persons with disabilities and to highlight the challenges they face from a positive perspective, following a human rights-based approach.
The exhibition opening featured a live performance by Cycloceza, a Belgium-based company of disabled dancers dancing in wheelchairs.
The event was held in cooperation with the International Disability and Development Consortium. (ck)
