Statement to mark European Diversity Month by Séamus Boland, President of the Civil Society Organisations' Group of the EESC
On 18 May 2022, the Diversity Europe Group (Group III) of the European Economic and Social Committee decided unanimously to change its name to "Civil Society Organisations' Group". The change of name enters into force with immediate effect.

On 10 May, the vice-president of the European Parliament Evelyn Regner took part in the European Day of the Liberal Professions 2022, which was hosted by the Liberal Professions Category of the EESC. She spoke during the opening session of the annual conference, which focused on the topic of Liberal Professions: Lessons Learned and Challenges ahead. Various civil society and other institutional representatives participated in the event.

Civil society organisations need continued support for their assistance to Ukrainian people and refugees. This is of particular importance for organisations working in Ukraine and its neighbouring countries. National and EU authorities need a long-term strategy for refugees and volunteers.
