The meeting of the External Relations section of 1st February is dedicated to Strategic Foresight, which consists in taking any given field of policy activity and identifying different possible scenarios, with their challenges and opportunities: for each scenario, a response is proposed in order to tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities.

The EESC has carried out extensive work in the past years on topics linked to mining and raw materials.
The webinar took place in the context of the EESC Thematic Study Group on Energy, in cooperation with the EESC INT Section. It concentrated on the main clean energy sources and the impact of the current transition to a carbon-neutral economy on the markets and on society.
The EU and the Japan Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs), established under the Trade and Sustainable Development (TSD) chapter of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), attended the 3rd EU-Japan Joint Dialogue with Civil Society, which took place in virtual format on 27 January 2022.

In order to prepare its opinion on the European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) proposal by the European Commission, the EESC is organising a remote public hearing on 13 January 2022 from 9:30 am to 1 pm.
The aim of the event is to discuss the proposal and gather input from other EU Institutions, civil society, social partners and health professionals, which will feed into the EESC's opinion.

In the context of the meeting of the Section for Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment (NAT) on 7 January 2022, this public hearing aims to engage stakeholders and civil society actors to discuss the European Commission Communication entitled 'Fit for 55': delivering the EU's 2030 Climate Target on the way to climate neutrality, which will feed into the preparation of the EESC opinion on this topic.
Under the auspices of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS)-European Union relations, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) organises regular consultation meetings with ACP and EU economic and social stakeholders, including representatives of civil society originating from the 79 ACP countries.
The EEA CC adopted resolutions on the following topics: "Global Agreement on Minimum Effective Taxation and its Implementation in the EEA " and "The Action Plan to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights".
The 6th meeting of the EU DAG under the EU-Japan EPA took place on 14 December 2021. It was a working meeting, to follow up on the discussions of the previous meeting (19 October) and to prepare the upcoming joint meetings with the Japanese counterparts. In addition to updates and exchanges with the European Commission and the EU Delegation in Tokyo, the EU DAG members also had the opportunity to listen to a presentation on "Civil Society in Japan" by Professor Akihiro Ogawa at this meeting.
