The European economy: reality and challenges for the future

between 12.00 and 14.00

In this public event we are looking to kick-start a debate on the principle features of the European Union economy, its current state and governance, taking into account the present and perspectives for the future, as well as the economic policies related to macroeconomics, taxation and finance.

The Spanish economy will be discussed using a European perspective, framed by the economic situation and European policy.

Organized jointly by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the Representation of the European Commission in Spain, the intention is to create a dialogue between representatives of civil society, the Spanish government and academia.

The Committee and the Commission Representation are aware of the difficult moments that the European Union is currently facing, full of risks and challenges, and the importance that the European Parliament elections at the end of May 2019 will have for the future of Europe. This event forms part of a group of initiatives that both institutions have formulated and agreed upon to raise public awareness of shared European values and to allow civil society to contribute, with ideas and proposals, to the strengthening of the Union and in the participation in the European elections.
