On 18-19 November, the European Economic and Social Committee held its Connecting EU seminar 2021. Entitled "What kind of Europe do you dream of? Civil Society and the Conference on the Future of Europe", the Connecting EU Seminar debated three issues that will be crucial for tomorrow's Europe. The event was held fully in person in the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.

The meeting of the European Economic and Social Committee's (EESC) External Relations Section on Transatlantic relations will take place on 17 November 2021 from 10h30- 17h00. It will be presided and moderated by the President of the External Relations Section, Mr. Dimitris Dimitriadis.
As part of its work to prepare an opinion on ''Social dialogue as a tool to promote health and safety at work'', the SOC Section of the EESC is organising a virtual public hearing on Wednesday 17 November 2021, from 09:30 a.m. to 13:00 p.m.
Various stakeholders from all levels (national and European institutions, agencies, social partners and civil society organisations) will be invited to share their views and recommendations on this important topic. This includes for instance social partners' agreements negotiated on occupational health and safety, joint guidelines on promoting positive wellbeing at work, including measures to prevent illnesses, exposure to dangerous substances and workplace accidents.

This meeting took place after the Civil Society Forum held in April and it gave the opportunity for the EU DAG members to follow up on the joint meeting with its Korean counterpart and discuss activities ahead.
The event was designed to be a forum for discussing the opportunities and challenges provided by the European Year of Rail in terms of the benefits of rail, its contribution to sustainable and smart mobility and what still needs to be done in order for it to become the sustainable and competitive transport option.
The EESC is organising a public hearing on "The right to make decisions: advancing the issue of Legal Capacity for persons with disability" on 15 November 2021.
The aim of the event is to:
- show the cross-cutting nature of legal capacity, and how not being entitled to it has repercussions on different areas of life
- reflect on which steps the EU could take to make progress on legal capacity

The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (FTA) envisages that DAG members of each Party meet together at a Civil Society Forum to conduct a dialogue encompassing sustainable development aspects of trade relations between the Parties.
The Workers' Group is organising an extra-ordinary meeting on 11 and 12 November in Lisbon, Portugal. The participants will debate on how we can build a more social Europe. During the first day we will take a look back to the achievements of the Portuguese presidency. We will have the chance to debate with representatives from the Portuguese government and the organised civil society. The second day will focus on what future for Europe we want. As the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE) is ongoing we discuss with representatives of the Portuguese, French and Slovenia presidency alongside our colleagues from ETUC how to make the CoFoE a real success.
