Objective(s)
The agreement committed most of CECED members to cease production and imports of several models of washing machines used by households to wash textiles for private use. On 22 October 1997, CECED notified the agreement to the Commission and applied for negative clearance or, alternatively, an exemption under Article 85 of the EC Treaty. The Commission indicated its intention to take a favourable view.

    Monitoring and reporting: CECED has established and updates a database, monitored by an independent consultant who reports annually to CECED and to the Commission on the fulfilment of the objectives per category class and for the overall target of 0,20 by end of 2000. The independent consultant aggregates individualised data submitted by each manufacturer.
