For the EESC, European added value must be at the centre of economic decision-making within the debate on the future of Europe
"EU governance needs a common sense of purpose that goes beyond technical approaches and measures. It is primarily a matter of political will and a shared vision of Europe's future." That is how Joost van Iersel, president of the ECO section in the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), summarises the EESC's position on the future of the European economy.

In einer von der Fachgruppe TEN ausgearbeiteten Stellungnahme, die auf der Oktober-Plenartagung des EWSA verabschiedet wurde, fordert der Ausschuss die Europäische Kommission auf, den Rechtsrahmen weiter zu verbessern, um einen funktionierenden einheitlichen europäischen Verkehrsraum zu schaffen.

51/2017The European Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans thanked the EESC members for their contribution to the Commission's 2018 work programme, which was presented in July 2017. He stressed that the EESC's contribution had had an impact on the programme he would be presenting next week. "We are pleased that you have involved us in the decision-making process but we will be even happier if you involve us even more", commented Georges Dassis, President of the EESC.
