Opfølgningsudvalget EU/Rusland er EØSU's interne organ med ansvar for forbindelserne med det russiske civilsamfund.

Siden myndighederne i Den Russiske Føderation indledte krigen mod Ukraine den 24. februar 2022, er det frie civilsamfund i Rusland blevet gjort tavst af særlove og stigende undertrykkelse, og mange kritikere af regimet er blevet tvunget i eksil.

Under de aktuelle vanskelige omstændigheder har EØSU besluttet at holde døren åben for dialog med den del af det russiske civilsamfund, der er imod krigen, og som befinder sig på EU's territorium.

Det har ført til udbytterige udvekslinger af information om og holdninger til, hvordan de bilaterale forbindelser bør fortsætte, når krigen er slut, og landet igen vender tilbage til frihed og demokrati.
