This own initiative opinion intends to explore the role of business transfers in the sustainable recovery and growth in European SME sector and how the business transfers could be further promoted and facilitated at the European level. There is a need to accelerate concrete follow-up actions for the promotion of business transfers, which is also one of the action points of the recent EU SME Strategy. It is crucial to raise awareness of the potential that business transfers have to the economic growth and the SME sector.

La stratégie européenne pour les données proposait la création d’espaces européens communs des données propres à chaque domaine. L’espace européen des données de santé («EHDS») est la première proposition d’espaces européens communs des données propres à chaque domaine. Il abordera les défis propres à la santé en matière d’accès et de partage des données de santé électroniques, constitue l’une des priorités de la Commission européenne dans le domaine de la santé et fera partie intégrante de la mise en place d’une Union européenne de la santé. L’EHDS créera un espace commun où les personnes physiques pourront facilement contrôler leurs données de santé électroniques. Elle permettra également aux chercheurs, aux innovateurs et aux décideurs politiques d’utiliser ces données de santé électroniques d’une manière fiable et sécurisée qui préserve la vie privée.
The EESC welcomes both Commission documents as very well timed and relevant in order to strengthen children's digital skills and protect them from potential dangers. However, it warns against a risk of widespread monitoring of all virtual exchanges.
In its opinion, the EESC insists on the need to invest in peoples' digital and financial literacy in order to enable consumers to correctly understand their rights and duties relating to financial contracts concluded at a distance, particularly the right to withdrawal from a contract and the right to obtain more information in a pre-contractual phase. The EESC also states that a balanced approach between the digital and the "brick and mortar" experience is crucial. In this respect, the EESC calls for the right to ask for "human intervention" in financial services at a distance to be guaranteed.
This opinion will assess the chances and challenges that SMEs face due to the green transition and will call the EU and the Member States to provide them with a favourable business environment, proper funding and support measures.
The EESC believes that the single market is essentially about achieving social and economic convergence aimed at reducing inequalities and ensuring that worsening social imbalances do not end up becoming serious obstacles to European integration. The EESC recommends a coordinated approach between Member States on the marketing of products affected by the crisis in Ukraine. The crisis caused by Russia’s aggression has created formidable supply restrictions. An "open strategic autonomy" should be adopted, especially in key sectors, to help build resilience, diversification and an ambitious trade agenda.
Most consumers say they want to pay attention to the environmental impact, but complain that only partial information is available. In its opinion, the EESC stresses the need to make every effort to ensure that better information on reparability is made available to consumers and to combat unfair practices.
This Directive will set out a horizontal framework to foster the contribution of businesses operating in the single market to the respect of the human rights and environment in their own operations and through their value chains, by identifying, preventing, mitigating and accounting for their adverse human rights, and environmental impacts, and having adequate governance, management systems and measures in place to this end.
