WEBINAR: Recovery Now

How to turn the Commission's #NextGenerationEU plan into a success, leaving no one behind.

The Coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc European and global health systems and economies. Stemming the tide has severely impacted all EU member states, even though with different magnitudes.

The EU has reacted promptly launching massive emergency measures to complement national efforts. On 27 May, the European Commission has put forward its proposal for a major plan to lift Europe out of the worst crisis since the end of WWII. The new plan, Next Generation EU, will not only support the recovery but also pave the way to key investments in the European Green Deal and digitalisation to boost jobs, growth and prosperity.

How to make sure such opportunity is not wasted? And how to make sure we really seize this unique 'Europe's moment', as President Ursula von der Leyen called it, to strengthen further the European project through political resolve, common ambition and collective responsibility?

On 2 June 2020, EESC President Luca Jahier, Executive Vice President of the European Commission for An Economy that Works for People Valdis Dombrovskis, Secretary of State for European Affairs of France Amélie de Montchalin and Chair of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) Irene Tinagli discussed these and other questions. Moderated by Spokesperson Daniela Vincenti.
