Meeting with Andrej Lepavcov, Ambassador of the formerYugoslav Republic of Macedonia to the EU

On 14th of December 2016 President Georges Dassis met H.E. Andrej Lepavcov, Head of Mission of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to the European Union, at the request of the Ambassador. Relations between the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the EESC were discussed and possible ways of concrete cooperation in the 2017 were explored, in view of the lack of accession negotiations.

 

The Ambassador expressed his wish to continue regular contacts and dialogue between civil society organisations of the EU and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, as a path towards possible start of the EU accession negotiations. He also informed the President about the results of the parliamentary elections that took place last Sunday. President Dassis shared with the ambassador his long experience in fostering good neighbourhood relations between Greece and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. He expressed his full support to the regular contacts between the EESC members and Macedonian civil society  and agreed to the idea of organizing  a visit to Skopje in 2017.
