Organised civil society representatives from bulgaria and the eu debated on the problems and possible solutions for employment in rural areas - 05/09/2014

The round table organized by the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria (ESC) in partnership with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on “Employment in Rural Areas - Challenges and Possible Solutions” brought together more than fifty representatives of the state and local authority, social partners and NGOs, members of the ESC and the EESC, experts and the media.

The round table was organised on the initiative of the EESC Section for Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (NAT) with President Dilyana Slavova, who is also a member of the Bulgarian ESC. Official guests were the President of the EESC’s Group III - Luca Jahier and Vice-President of the EESC’s Group I - Brendan Burns.

Among the speakers were Staffan Nilsson - EESC member, Plamen Dimitrov - EESC member, President of the EESC Commission for Labour, Incomes, Living Standard and industrial relations and also President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria,  Sergey Tzvetarski - Chairman of the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria, representatives of the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria, Central Cooperative Union, Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Ministry of the Economy and Energy and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
