FOOD FOR CITIZENS
From a common agricultural policy to a common food policy
21 June 2013, 9.00–16.00 (UTC+1)
The Common Agricultural Policy recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Numerous conferences were held on issues ranging from the difficulties farmers face and environmental challenges to animal welfare, but somehow the end user, the consumer – i.e. you - were forgotten.
This has to change! You are what you eat, so you have a right to expect safe, healthy, sustainable food and you must speak out about it!
On 21 June 2013, the European Economic and Social Committee, together with local partners, will be holding a conference on "Food for citizens – from a common agricultural policy to a common food policy". The event will bring two distant cities, Dublin and Vilnius, together in a debate and will give you – wherever you might be in the world – an opportunity to join the conference online.
Save this date in your diary to try this brand new concept for yourselves by joining a discussion on the most vital aspect of your life.
