The interinstitutional Europe Day will be held on Sunday 9 May 2021, in the form of a virtual event, under the shared motto of 'togetherness'.

The main topics will converge, in all institutions, around the themes of the EU's recovery, the Green Deal and the digital transition, while at the same time leaving space for each institution to focus on its own specific characteristics and priorities.

Regarding the EESC's activities and the related web page, this will consist of four parts, supported by a promotional campaign mainly taking place on social media and targeting a broad range of citizens, with a special focus on civil society organisations and young people:

  1. Discover what the EESC does for you
  2. Discover what EESC members do back home
  3. Culture
  4. Live activities on 9 May

The hearing will feed into the EESC Opinion on the Democracy Action Plan which lays the ground for the adoption of measures concerning the promotion of free and fair elections (including democratic engagement beyond elections), the strengthening of media freedom, and the countering of disinformation.
