Speaker
Staffan Nilsson
Organisation:
EESC

The EESC fully supports the EC's green paper on Family reunification.
We are also aware that it is a difficult subject. There is a strong debate among
Member States. This is why today's conference is so important: the Forum must
have its say on it.

The European Integration Forum, launched in April 2009, brings together representatives of civil society organisations active in the area of integration of immigrants. It gives them an opportunity to express their views on this subject, in particular relating to the EU agenda on integration, while the Commission can take a proactive role in such discussions. This allows the European institutions to promote a comprehensive approach to integration, involving stakeholders at all levels.
