      <description>The EESC is currently drawing up an own-initiative opinion assessing whether the EU has the sufficient and coherent policy framework in place to make the transition to a green economy actually happen. The hearing on 12 March should provide input for this opinion from experts and civil society stakeholders. It should also promote the civil society debate on the green economy. Specific attention will be given to the greening of the economy in times of economic and financial crisis.</description>

The aim of the workshop was to provide the space to advance the civil society discussion on SDGs in order to make concrete proposals. European representatives of UN Major Groups and EESC members have had the opportunity to influence the EU decision making process on SDGs and to identify how to influence the UN process.</description>

      <description>The public hearing on "The role of women as drivers of a development and innovation model in agriculture and rural areas" will be held on 11 May, in the context of the meeting of the Section for Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment (NAT)&#xD;

The EESC opinion on this same topic – the drafting of which is currently underway – will aim to identify criteria and measures which can help women to unlock their potential as workers and entrepreneurs and drive innovation in agricultural and rural areas, with a view to promoting sustainable development and good quality jobs in these areas. The presentations and the ensuing discussion at the public hearing will feed into the ongoing work on this subject.</description>
