EESC and EP ready to defend together Europe's social model

On March 29, the President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Staffan Nilsson, welcomed the President of the European Parliament (EP), Martin Schulz, at the Committee's 479th plenary session. The presidents held a debate with EESC members to address steps required to exit not only the current crisis but, of equal importance, to regenerate citizens' trust and confidence in the EU institutions. The presidents agreed that both institutions should work hand in hand to defend the European economic and social model, which has brought enormous benefits to Europe's citizens.
