President Röpke in Moldova: Disinformation is a weapon for foreign powers to harm our societies

The EESC President Röpke discussed the fight against disinformation with the Moldovan government, civil society, and local activist in Gagauzia, a region particularly affected by Russian disinformation. He also officially presented the EESC initiative to integrate the representatives of the EU candidate countries, including from Moldova, in the work of the Committee.

During today's signing ceremony, President Röpke stressed the importance of promoting social rights and inclusive policies in the EU and candidate countries through the European Pillar of Social Rights. A fair and equitable society requires commitment and investment, he said.

The European and Economic and Social Committee has always been a strong ally in elaborating and implementing the Social Pillar and safeguarding sustainable competitiveness. A regular and meaningful dialogue with civil society can only strengthen the EESC´s commitment to a strong European Social model.
Allies in defence of democracy: Presidents Röpke and Lula da Silva meet for the first time in Brazil

As one of the first EU leaders to visit Brazil in 2024, President Oliver Röpke concluded a successful mission to the country. The EESC visit reaffirmed Brazil's strategic partnership with the EU, strengthening political ties with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and re-establishing relations with the civil society.
