The annual meeting of the presidents and secretaries-general of Europe's national ESCs and of the EESC will be held in Paris on 13 November 2014, with a seminar on the following day to discuss what ordinary Europeans expect from Europe.
In order to prepare as effectively as possible for this double meeting, the process of gathering information was launched via a questionnaire sent out to the twenty or so national ESCs in Europe on the importance of European issues in their work and that of other national consultative bodies, on the feelings which the European Union inspires in each country, and on possible expectations from its institutions during the new term of office.
A draft questionnaire was sent to the presidents of the ESCs at the end of March, requesting them to make amendments, where necessary; a final version of the document was distributed in mid April.
An analysis of answers to this questionnaire will be presented at the meetings in November, enabling us to select themes for the round table discussions on which the seminar will be based. It could also be used as a basis for a Declaration which is to be published.
