• Poland: a tonic for Europe

  The newly-inaugurated Polish Presidency will act as a tonic for Europe. For two main reasons: first, with its ambitious programme based on pro-European values, Poland is promoting greater EU integration in the interests of growth, especially in the current euro crisis; second, the strong commitment of the Polish government shows that "new Europe" is becoming an old-fashioned label for some of the Member States that joined the EU in 2004.

  Krawczyk calls for better links between businesses in the EU and Eastern Partnership countries Businesses in Eastern Partnership countries should strengthen and further develop links with businesses and private and public bodies in the EU, said Jacek Krawczyk, EESC vice-president at the European Forum for New Ideas, organized by the Polish Confederation of Private Employers, Lewiatan, in Sopot (Poland) and held under the auspices of the Polish EU presidency.

  The Polish Presidency at the EESC The Polish Presidency of the EU was kicked off on 1st July, and the EESC has already launched numerous invitations, events and documents linked to this Presidency. The July Plenary Session of the Committee received the Polish Deputy Prime Minister Waldemar PAWLAK on 13th July, and the same day, the Polish Minister of Agriculture, Marek SAWICKI, took part, by the side of the Commissioner Cioloş, to the EESC conference on the future of European agriculture. ...
