The 30th meeting of the EU-Turkey Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) took place in Berlin on 26 and 27 June 2012.

A seminar on Communicating Turkey was held in conjunction with the JCC meeting on 27 June, bringing together representatives of the Turkish community of Berlin. The seminar concluded that more must be done in EU Member States to debate enlargement policies and to explain the benefits of Turkish EU membership.

The seminar was attended by Egemen Bağış, Turkish Minister for EU Affairs and chief negotiator, Stefan Kapferer, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and H.E. Hüseyin Avni Karslioğlu, Turkish Ambassador to Germany.

Staffan Nilsson, president of the European Economic and Social Committee, deplored the current stalemate in Turkish accession negotiations and noted that the EESC would always remain on Turkey's side and support its bid for EU membership.
