The EESC contribution to the European Commission's program and the cooperation with the European Parliament

The president of the European Economic and Social Committee, Georges Dassis, met on 28 September with the president of the Conference of Committee Chairs of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, to present the EESC contribution to the program of the European Commission for 2017.

President Dassis explained the basic content of the EESC contribution around three strategic themes: strengthening of the economic and social cohesion, boosting the EU's global role and increasing citizens' ownership of the EU. Furthermore, he underlined the EESC support for president Juncker's proposal with regards to doubling of the amount of the European Commission's investment plan.

From his part, Mr Buzek, asked the contribution of the EESC on the implementation reports regarding EU legislation, while the two presidents agreed to expand the cooperation between the EESC and the European Parliament and to increase the use of EESC inputs.
