Ukraine: A new start for the Neighbourhood Policy?

The European Union has committed at least three errors in judgment during the Ukrainian crisis:

1. Reacted too late! Corruption in the Yanukovych regime was long known and proven. Why had Europe not denounced the situation before? Since December, our friends in the Ukrainian civil society asked for specific sanctions such as freezing the assets, within the European Union, for the perpetrators of the police violence and repression. I am very proud that the European Economic and Social Committee was the first European institution to ask for such sanctions in January, two weeks before the European Parliament! The European Council, therefore has waited for a hundred deaths to finally take actions against these repressive measures? Always in the name of such sacrosanct pragmatism leads, for example, to a nonresponse and silence amidst recurrent violations of human rights in China?
