80 years of paid leave – Conference

On 17 June 2016, the EESC and more particularly the Workers' Group are hosting an event co-organised with the International Social Tourism Organisation (ISTO) and the European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions (EFFAT) to mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the ILO Convention No. 52 on Holidays with Pay, an important subject in times of severe attacks against fundamental labour rights.

Numerous members of the Workers' Group are expected to attend. Juan Mendoza Castro will moderate the introductory part of the session and José María Zufíaur will deliver a keynote speech on paid leave. Prominent trade union leaders and representatives, as well as renowned historians and other academics are expected to participate and speak at the conference.

The discussion will focus on the evolution of paid leave over time and new developments linked to changing trends in working habits and conditions.
