    Krawczyk's plea to establish a European debt agency and Eurobonds All efforts undertaken so far to bail out debt-ridden countries and prop up ailing banks are merely an interim solution, until such time as a European Monetary Fund is established, said Jacek Krawczyk, EESC vice-president during today's European Forum for New Ideas, organised by the Polish Confederation of Private Employers, Lewiatan, in Sopot (Poland) and held under the auspices of the Polish EU presidency. He has also argued for the establishment of a European debt agency that could issue Eurobonds.

    Towards a more attractive vocational education and training system EESC vice-president Anna-Maria Darmanin, the German contact point of the EESC, Dr. Renate Heinisch and three EESC members discussed this topic with more than 100 participants representing German governmental and non-governmental organisations.

    The seminar in Berlin at the premises of the EU-Representation was based on the EESC's exploratory opinion on "Post-secondary Vocational Education and Training as an Attractive Alternative to Higher Education", an important European issue, especially in Germany, where it is currently subject to much debate.

    3 and 4/12/2009 – Stockholm, Sweden Henri MALOSSE, accompanied by Mrs. Birgit FULAR, Secretary General of the Employers' Group, attended the Council of Presidents of BusinessEurope. Frederick REINFELD, Prime Minister of Sweden, addressed the Council of Presidents to highlight the Copenhagen conference on Climate Change. Participants were received in the evening at the Royal Palace by HM King Carl XVI Gustaf and HM Queen Silvia of Sweden. The Council of Presidents has adopted a Strategy to pull Europe out of the crises.

    EESC Working breakfast hosted by Mr Malosse, with Ms Hansen, President of the Swedish Confederation of Enterprises and the Members of the Employers' Group The objective of this working breakfast hosted by Mr Malosse was to discuss with Ms Hansen, President of the Swedish Confederation of Enterprises, the strategic objectives of the Swedish Confederation of Enterprises presented in a document "6 steps for Europe" in the context of the Swedish Presidency of the EU. EESC Members have also presented their viewpoints and concerns about employers' priorities for the EU.
  • 11 Jul 2009 9/10 July, 11th International Meeting of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions Together with the EESC President, Mario Sepi, and the President of the REX section, Filip Hamro-Drotz, Mr Malosse supported the EESC view on the future of the AICESIS. They asked the AICESIS to enhance its activities promoting exchanges of experience between ESC and similar institutions, and supporting civil dialogue in EU partner countries. The EESC also thinks it would be legitimate for AICESIS to develop contacts and exchanges with international organisation (United Nations, ILO..) in order to make the voice of national ESC and the EESC better heard, while respecting the identity and political autonomy of each member.
