"The European ship repair and conversion sector" EMSA - Lisbon Lisbon, Portugal

The ship repair and conversion sector exerts a strong influence in the "greening" and the safety improvement of the existing fleets in the EU and outside Europe. It is also confronted to strong competition, not always fair, in the global market.

The CCMI, in collaboration with the European Maritime Safety Agency, is organising a public hearing aimed at drawing the attention of the various stakeholders and the other EU institutions on this specific subsector of shipbuilding.

During the event the participants will be able to discuss with various representatives of the sector the key issues related to this promising segment, for instance the new challenges and risks that the EU ship repair sector has to face in order to maintain or improve its competitiveness.

The hearing is organized in the context of the preparation of an EESC own initiative opinion on Ship Repair an Conversion (Rapporteur: Mr. Krzaklewski, Co-Rapporteur: Mr. Calvet Chambon).
