Public Hearing - Brussels, Belgium

The role and future of the liberal professions in European civil society 2020

Liberal professions play a key role in 2020 strategy achievement  in many respects. They help to build a productive fabric, create jobs and provide public service missions.

They are also a driver for innovation and are thus an important tool to promote recovery from the economic and social crisis that many EU Member States are unfortunately experiencing.

Today, it is important, both for Europeans and for consumers in general, to reconcile productivity with the quality of services, professional security and mutual trust, access to rights and public interest in general.

The Hearing that took place on 24 September focused on varied issues such as regulation of those professions within the internal market, relationships with consumers and the evolution of the ethical framework in which they operate.
