6th Joint seminar between the EESC and the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation
The 6th joint seminar is a part of existing format of cooperation between the EESC and the Civic Chamber of Russian Federation under which one joint seminar is organized each year. Following the last Joint Declaration of the 5th joint seminar, the two main topics which will be addressed during the 6th seminar are human rights and trade. The conclusions of the seminar will be sent to relevant institutions prior to the next EU-Russia Summit scheduled for mid-2013.

On 15 December 2010 the LMO organised a hearing on "Innovative workplaces as a source of productivity and quality jobs". The hearing was organised in cooperation with the Sub-committee on "Innovative workplaces" as part of its work on an own-initiative opinion on the same theme. - -

European Integration Forum - 4th meeting
The European Integration Forum – the innovative dialogue platform on integration of immigrants - met for the fourth time on 6-7 December 2010 in the EESC building. The main themes of this meeting were: 'Active participation of migrants’ and ‘Strong commitment by the host society’. - -

Small Business Act – Happy Birthday? Seminar
Two years on from the endorsement of the Small Business Act by the Member States, the EESC Employers' Group will hold on the 2nd of December, in partnership with BUSINESSEUROPE, EUROCHAMBRES and UEAPME, a Seminar to assess the added value of the EU initiative for individual business managers and small and medium-sized enterprises. This seminar will be organised by the Employers' Group. - -
EESC delegation visiting and meeting the Israeli and Palestinian ESCs
On the invitation of the Israeli and Palestinian Economic and Social Councils a delegation of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), headed by its President Mr Staffan NILSSON, visited Israel and the Palestinian Territories on 28 November to 1 December. -
Seminar on the internalisation of external transport costs: What are the prospects for after 'Eurovignette II'?
The 'Eurovignette Directive' allows Member States to charge heavy lorries for the use of some parts of the European road infrastructure. The proposal to revise this Directive, known as 'Eurovignette II', aims to allow Member States to charge heavy lorries on the basis of 'external costs' of air and noise pollution. The revision of the Directive should enable Member States to better manage traffic on the biggest major roads by allowing a wider variation of toll rates. It also encourages the reinvestment of revenue from the additional charges in projects designed to make transport more environmentally friendly. - -
